Proper Louver Positioning for Winter Operation

Most heat pump models have both horizontal and vertical louvers to direct air in varying directions. The position of these louvers can affect who well your heat pump spreads heat in your home. The above video gives you an overview of how to best position your louvers for optimal heating operation.

  1. Keep the horizontal louver position approximately 45° downwards, or so that the air flow is aimed 10-15′ out from your indoor heat pump unit
  2. Keep the vertical louvers set straight ahead if possible

For air conditioning mode in the summer these settings are not as important. However during the winter months ensuring the air flow from your heat pump can go out as far from the indoor unit as possible so all heat is expelled before the air comes back to the system is important.
